Position Description:

  • Inspect completed aircraft modification and maintenance actions to written specifications and blueprints.
  • Inspect ground handling operations of aircraft throughout the modification and maintenance process.
  • Ensure procedures are followed and resolve quality-related issues.
  • Maintain and improve quality, uniformity, and reliability of the total modification and maintenance effort.
  • Perform inspections and tests and ensure others perform appropriate inspections and tests.
  • Ensure the product and processes are within specification.
  • Responsible for the overall quality of the aircraft, including all modification and maintenance activities performed.
  • Responsible for presenting products to and liaising with DCMA.
  • Responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of the work performed by subcontractors.
  • Perform detailed kitting inspections.
  • Address day-to-day quality issues.
  • Proactively address customer quality issues, complaints, etc.
  • Lead and facilitate cross-functional teams to solve quality problems.
  • Use Corrective Actions to drive change and improve training, work habits, and procedures of modification/maintenance personnel.
  • Establish, track, analyze, and report on key quality metrics.
  • Maintain and improve the Quality Management System.
  • Actively participate in establishing and promoting a Quality Culture.
  • Conduct safety inspections.
  • Conduct training of modification and ground handling operations.
  • Conduct internal audits of manufacturing and modification processes.
  • Support the FOD Prevention Program.

Experience/Skills Required:

  • A minimum of 10 years of aircraft maintenance with 5 years of aircraft Quality Inspector experience is required.
  • Must have experience with modification/maintenance of aircraft, releasing of safe aircraft, assembly and testing of components, and applicable inspections.
  • Must be proficient at reading and interpreting specifications to include blueprints and drawing packages.
  • Must be proficient at using basic inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, hole gauges, radius gauges, etc.
  • Must be experienced in working with Government customers/programs.
  • Must be experienced in working with DCMA.
  • Must possess strong leadership abilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be experienced at solving problems and have strong problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to mentor and coach team members.
  • Must be a team player and work well with others.
  • AS9100 experience is a plus.
  • A&P certification is highly desired.
