Position Description:
- Inspect completed aircraft modification and maintenance actions to written specifications and blueprints.
- Inspect ground handling operations of aircraft throughout the modification and maintenance process.
- Ensure procedures are followed and resolve quality-related issues.
- Maintain and improve quality, uniformity, and reliability of the total modification and maintenance effort.
- Perform inspections and tests and ensure others perform appropriate inspections and tests.
- Ensure the product and processes are within specification.
- Responsible for the overall quality of the aircraft, including all modification and maintenance activities performed.
- Responsible for presenting products to and liaising with DCMA.
- Responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of the work performed by subcontractors.
- Perform detailed kitting inspections.
- Address day-to-day quality issues.
- Proactively address customer quality issues, complaints, etc.
- Lead and facilitate cross-functional teams to solve quality problems.
- Use Corrective Actions to drive change and improve training, work habits, and procedures of modification/maintenance personnel.
- Establish, track, analyze, and report on key quality metrics.
- Maintain and improve the Quality Management System.
- Actively participate in establishing and promoting a Quality Culture.
- Conduct safety inspections.
- Conduct training of modification and ground handling operations.
- Conduct internal audits of manufacturing and modification processes.
- Support the FOD Prevention Program.
Experience/Skills Required:
- A minimum of 10 years of aircraft maintenance with 5 years of aircraft Quality Inspector experience is required.
- Must have experience with modification/maintenance of aircraft, releasing of safe aircraft, assembly and testing of components, and applicable inspections.
- Must be proficient at reading and interpreting specifications to include blueprints and drawing packages.
- Must be proficient at using basic inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, hole gauges, radius gauges, etc.
- Must be experienced in working with Government customers/programs.
- Must be experienced in working with DCMA.
- Must possess strong leadership abilities and interpersonal skills.
- Must be experienced at solving problems and have strong problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to mentor and coach team members.
- Must be a team player and work well with others.
- AS9100 experience is a plus.
- A&P certification is highly desired.
