Our client has an immediate need for an experienced Network Engineer who must be a US citizen, ready to help deliver Network Transformation and Modernization services to a number of Federal (mostly Defense) clients nationwide. Most of the work will be carried out via remote support, but there will be instances requiring travel to specific locations within the United States. This is a great opportunity to really grow your skillset and create complex Engineering Method of Procedure (EMOP) documents to migrate, reconfigure and modernize customer networks, both via remote and on-site interaction. This is an opportunity to support critical missions impacting national security while creating multi-disciplinary technical solutions to complex business and infrastructure problems.

Your Responsibilities will likely include the following; 

  • Implement complex upgrades of our client-supplied equipment on Customer In-Service networks without impacting the services provided to the end-user. This includes, but is not limited to, Channel Adds, Node Insertions, TOADM-to-ROADM conversions, Traffic Migrations, and HW/SW Upgrades.
  • Implement changes on equipment from multiple vendors when such changes are required during a reconfiguration involving our client’s products.
  • Development and presentation of complex network modernization end-to-end solutions.
  • Performs network audits and architecture design to enable the introduction of complete end-to-end network modernization.
  • Validate and test specific procedural steps in equipment labs.
  • Plan, develop and execute modernization plans for evolving customer networks via the EMOP process.
  • Create and own the Engineering Method of Procedures (EMOP), support field execution remotely and on-site, as required, for modernization projects.
  • Ensure proposed solutions are technically viable, meet customer requirements and provide maximum benefit.  Deliver and own Network Engineering documentation for Customers via the Detailed Network Design service offering.
  • Validate that the actions taken by the Assigned Project Team are executed properly as per the steps detailed in the EMOP.  Ensures the Customer’s network is operating in a stable state as designed during Maintenance Window activities.
  • Responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and debugging complex technical issues that arise during scheduled Maintenance Windows.
  • Own the creation of Complex/Custom EMOPs for both new Deployments and In-Service Upgrades.
  • Own the creation and outcomes of audit and optimization service of Telecommunication networks.
  • Acts as a key technical interface to the customer.
  • Lead the turn-up and testing of various client-supplied product lines in both green-field and In-Service Deployment environments.
  • Work with Internal Product Development Teams to recommend enhancements and suggestions on ways to improve the Field Deployment process.
  • Take ownership of enhancements in field deployment, where applicable, quantifying the impacts of delays to support and drive this through Right First Time.
  • Participate in internal and customer-facing conference calls in support of ongoing projects, as required.
  • Support pre-sales custom service estimates as required.

Your background will include the following; 

  • B.Sc. Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of discipline.
  • 8+ years experience with live network migration and telecommunication consulting.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations during maintenance window activities and solve complex technical issues under the stress of time constraints; requires nerves of steel.
  • Excellent in problem-solving down to the design level and then translating that back to Engineering for resolution.
  • Ability to assess technical issues and make decisions independently and execute those decisions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to connect and manipulate equipment from multiple vendors.
  • Ability to analyze customer documentation and database information to identify end-to-end services.
  • Demonstrated Customer Service interaction and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to execute Maintenance Windows off-hours and on-site, as required.
  • US Citizenship required. Active Secret Clearance Preferred.
